YOU LIKE THEIR STYLE

Nowadays there is a wide range of photography styles. From light and airy, classic, warm to dark and moody. Ask yourself what style do you feel drawn to instantly.

Do not only consider the colours but also the emotional and artistic feel of the images.

Are you drawn more to the formal-posed portraits style or do you prefer candid photographs? It’s totally fine if you can’t decide on just one style. For example, I use different approaches throughout a wedding day and do a mix of posed portraiture and a photo documentary-style to be able to tell the wedding story as a whole.

IT FITS YOUR BUDGET

The price range can vary a lot from one photographer to another.

If you have a limited budget, you might consider taking a simpler package or go for a photographer that fits your budget.

Don’t just look at the numbers. I know that everyone has a budget, but the one thing I hear over and over again is… “I wish I would have spent more on photography.”, or “if I could change one thing it would be to invest more in my photographer”

It's very important to like your photographer's personality and get along well with her/him. After all, they will stay the whole day with you and be present at very personal and emotional moments.

Make sure to meet with your photographer or have a video call to see if you are a good match.

Sometimes a great professional won't have the personality that you can connect with and this will make you uncomfortable throughout de day.

YOU TRUST THEIR SKILLS

Your photographer should be able to perform in different lightning conditions. Maybe you are only seeing on their social medias photos taken in perfect lighting situations but what if your venue is mostly dark? What if it rains & you are limited to shooting primarily indoors? Make sure you are hiring an experienced photographer who is confident in handling low light and stressful situations. You will want to make sure your photographer is efficient in using off camera flash, & that they have the appropriate equipment & expertise to meet the needs of your wedding day.

THEY HAVE A CLEAR CONTRACT

Make sure to have a contract. It not only protects the photographer, but it most certainly protects you. In the contract there should be details about your wedding package, what’s included, the price, the time frame for the delivery of images & so much more. You should also make sure to thoroughly read through your contract. It is important that you address any questions or concerns before signing & locking in your date with your wedding photographer.
